Brentsville Road / Route 234 Interchange Update

Behind the scenes, work on the Brentsville Road / Route 234 Interchange project has been continuing since the Board of County Supervisors entered a design-build contract with Wagman Heavy Civil Inc in January.

Since then, three sidewalk and trail sections were added to the project to better accommodate pedestrians. In July, early grading plans were submitted to the County for review and permitting. Public hearing plans, the bridge plan, and the “Interchange Justification Report” were submitted to VDOT for review.

Although the project continues to move along, the public will still be given opportunities to share their thoughts on the design of the interchange. The next public hearing is scheduled for December 7th. Construction is scheduled to begin this winter and work is expected to be completed by May of 2024. Currently, $55 million has been allocated for this project by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority.

The most up to date version of the design can be viewed at this link. If you would like more information on the Route 234-Brentsville Road Interchange Project, please contact Project Manager, Dagmawie Shikurye at [email protected].
