On June 12th, Colgan High School Freshman, Matthew Staton defeated Lake Braddock’s Dustin Ha to claim Prince William County’s first boys state tennis title since 1975, 6-3 and 6-1.

The 15 year old Staton is clearly talented beyond his years and has a limitless future ahead of him with continued hard work. But his coach says he’s impressed with something else. “He’s already above everyone else talent-wise,” said Colgan tennis coach Jasen Viggiani. “What impresses me the most is his mental toughness. You can’t get into his head.” Wise beyond his years as well. Supervisor Vega and the Coles District office congratulations Mr. Station on his title and look forward to more great things from him.
