On July 20th, the Board of County Supervisors approved three geographically balanced early voting locations to comply with the state’s mandatory 45 day early voting period (beginning September 17th) with two additional geographically balanced locations for the final two weeks before the election.
The three early voting locations where eligible county citizens can begin voting at on September 17th will be as follows:
– The Prince William County Office of Elections, 9250 Lee Avenue, Suite 1, Manassas
The Haymarket Gainesville Community Library, 14870 Lightner Road, Haymarket
• Department of Motor Vehicle Woodbridge Customer Service Center, Elections
Office, 2731 Caton Hill Road, Woodbridge
Open for fourteen days prior to the election will be:
- The Brentsville Courthouse Historic District, 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow
• Dumfries Community Center, 17755 Main Street, Dumfries
The early voting locations represents a slight change from the 2017 gubernatorial election which had two early voting locations beginning 45 days from the election, and an additional four for the last two weeks.
In 2020 there were eight early voting locations around the County for the Presidential Election with the County’s projection of up to 90% voter turnout. Turnout ended up being far lower at 74%. Historically, there is a significant dip in voter turnout for gubernatorial elections in Prince William County from the preceding Presidential Election. For example, in 2016, turnout for the Presidential Election was 72% in Prince William County, however turnout for the gubernatorial election the following year was 45%.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is October 12th. Citizens may use this link to register to vote, update their registration, find their polling location, or request an absentee ballot.
