Vacancies on Board of Zoning Appeals and Architectural Review Board

Vacancies: Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), a critical decision-making board in Prince William County, currently has one (1) vacancy for a Regular Voting Member and three (3) vacancies for Alternate Voting Members. County residents with a general interest in government process, the application of legal principles, and a willingness to serve the community would be ideal candidates for the BZA.
The BZA is a quasi-judicial Board, appointed to staggered five-year terms by the Circuit Court, that reviews and decides appeals of zoning determination and requests for variances to zoning provisions.

The BZA meets when an application for an appeal or request for a variance is submitted; the meetings do occur during the daytime hours, typically beginning at 2 p.m. in Board Chambers of the McCoart Administration Building.

Nominations for the BZA can be coordinated through the Chair’s Office.

Vacancies: Architectural Review Board

The Architectural Review Board (ARB), an advisory board to the Board of County Supervisors, currently has the following four (4) vacancies:

• Brentsville Magisterial District
• Gainesville Magisterial District
• Woodbridge Magisterial District
• At-Large – Chair Appointee

The ARB focuses on the protection of local historical and cultural resources in PWC and serves as the review board for the County’s historic overlay district. Individuals with a background in architecture, design, planning, preservation, history, or a strong interest in those areas would be welcome additions to the ARB.

When there are items to consider, the ARB will typically meet the second Wednesday of the month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Potomac Conference Room.
